The Great Decorate

The Great Decorate, now in its fifth year, is a holiday tree decorating contest, that raises awareness and funds to support local foster teens that are close to aging-out of the foster care system. Each year, foster teen recipients are selected for The Great Decorate through a partnership with the Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange.

From November 24 through December 31, all are encouraged to visit participating restaurants and retailers throughout downtown Birmingham to view magnificently decorated holiday trees and decor. Vote for your favorite by donating online at www.thegreatdecorate.com or in-store.

Spring Stroll

Thank you for your interest in this event. Registration is now closed, however we welcome everyone downtown this weekend to shop, dine and explore all that Birmingham has to offer! Please be sure to mark your calendars for upcoming events including Outdoor Movie Nights, Day on the Town and more!

The free Spring Stroll event, co-sponsored by The Surnow Company and Cooper Street Cookies, features local retailers and restaurants, with special giveaways, and will take place between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. with staggered start times.

Registered attendees should check in during their assigned time at The Surnow Building located at 320 Martin Street in downtown Birmingham. Attendees will receive their event bag, coloring activity sheet and list of participating retailers. From there, attendees are invited to visit participating retailers of their choice, collect giveaways and complete the activity sheet. Completed activity sheets may be returned to the event check-in for a prize, and will be displayed around town.

Celebrate Birmingham Hometown Parade & Party

Visit downtown Birmingham for the annual hometown parade and party! The parade begins at 1:00 p.m. and will feature community and civic groups, local businesses and more! Find a spot along North Old Woodward Avenue to watch the fun. 

The parade will conclude with a party in Shain Park with free bounce houses, train rides and more until 4:00 p.m.

Birmingham Art Walk

This free strolling event feature local businesses and artists, entertainment and more throughout downtown Birmingham! Stop by participating merchants to meet local artists and enjoy special promotions, light refreshments and other festivities.

Attendees are invited to start at the participating business of their choice to receive an event list and then stroll to visit as many participating businesses and artists as desired, throughout the evening.

The Great Decorate

The Great Decorate, now in its fifth year, is a holiday tree decorating contest, that raises awareness and funds to support local foster teens that are close to aging-out of the foster care system. Each year, foster teen recipients are selected for The Great Decorate through a partnership with the Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange.

From November 24 through December 31, all are encouraged to visit participating restaurants and retailers throughout downtown Birmingham to view magnificently decorated holiday trees and decor. Vote for your favorite by donating online at www.thegreatdecorate.com or in-store.

100% OF DONATIONS GO DIRECTLY TO LOCAL FOSTER TEENS TO USE TOWARD THEIR FUTURE WHEN THEY TURN 18.

Each year in the United States, more than 26,500 fosted care teens age-out of the system, including 1,700 in Michigan alone. Since 2019, The Great Decorate has raised more than $186,000 to support foster teens in need in Michigan. The non-profit has also raised more than $35,000 to support local businesses through the contest.

The Great Decorate

The Great Decorate, now in its fifth year, is a holiday tree decorating contest, that raises awareness and funds to support local foster teens that are close to aging-out of the foster care system. Each year, foster teen recipients are selected for The Great Decorate through a partnership with the Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange.

From November 24 through December 31, all are encouraged to visit participating restaurants and retailers throughout downtown Birmingham to view magnificently decorated holiday trees and decor. Vote for your favorite by donating online at www.thegreatdecorate.com or in-store.

100% OF DONATIONS GO DIRECTLY TO LOCAL FOSTER TEENS TO USE TOWARD THEIR FUTURE WHEN THEY TURN 18.

Each year in the United States, more than 26,500 fosted care teens age-out of the system, including 1,700 in Michigan alone. Since 2019, The Great Decorate has raised more than $186,000 to support foster teens in need in Michigan. The non-profit has also raised more than $35,000 to support local businesses through the contest.
